Kevin Gaynor is an Irish Artist that uses active sculptural installations, and video to collapse geography and connect social ideologies. He completed his BA in Fine Art Sculpture at the National College of Art and Design, and studied Cinematography at BCFE.

Kevin's practice employs themes of international identity, geographic class, and the systems built to project them. By focusing on identities, geography and emerging forms of global-class, he experiments with traditional formats of centralised identity, and contextual research. Using a combination of active-sculptural installation, and social engagement, the work explores internationalism, and geography’s effects on identity. Extensive research supports this studio practice, becoming shaped to communicate physically, creating work that collapses geography, and challenges social engagement through an art practice.

With an awareness of site-specific material, this practice uses locational collaboration to re-orientate, and re-present power. This work has led to the use of distinctive artistic techniques with communities in Ireland, and throughout Europe.

Kevin’s work has been exhibited around the world, winning him the Arts Council of Ireland’s Next Generation Artist Award. His work has also been selected as part of the Royal Dublin Society’s Visual Art Awards, MART Gallery & Studios Artist-in-Residence Award, the Global UA Awards, the Engage Studios Emerging Artist Award, and the 126 Gallery Award. He has also worked closely with ZK/U Berlin, Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, Green On Red Gallery, and Fire Station Studios.
